Internal Wall Insulation — Full Specification
What we install
Insulated plasterboard laminate — rigid insulation bonded to plasterboard — mechanically fixed and dot-and-dabbed to the inner face, with a continuous vapour control layer where the condensation risk analysis calls for one. Joints are taped and skimmed ready for decoration.
The process, step by step
- Survey and condensation risk analysis for each room
- Strip out: skirting, architrave, radiators, sockets and switches removed
- Preparation: any damp addressed and the wall left dry before boarding
- Boarding: laminate fixed, reveals insulated to limit cold bridging at openings
- Services refitted with extended back boxes and pattresses
- Taping, jointing and skim finish
- Skirting and architrave reinstated
Detailing is what makes it work
Internal insulation fails at the junctions, not in the middle of the wall. Reveals, floor and ceiling perimeters, and the party wall junction all need continuous treatment — a gap at any of them becomes a cold spot where condensation forms. This is where the survey time goes, and why we insulate reveals as standard rather than as an extra.
