Cavity Wall Insulation — Full Specification
What we install
Bonded polystyrene bead, injected under pressure with an adhesive binder so the fill knits together rather than settling over time. Bead is chosen over blown fibre for exposed Irish elevations because it does not wick moisture across the cavity.
The process, step by step
- Survey: wall thickness measured, construction confirmed, a borescope inspection made through a test hole
- Assessment: exposure, existing fill, debris and any water ingress checked before a price is given
- Preparation: vents, flues and cavity closers identified and protected
- Drilling: a measured pattern of holes in the mortar joints, typically at metre centres
- Injection: bead and binder pumped until the cavity reaches refusal
- Making good: holes filled with colour-matched mortar
- Sign-off: fill pattern recorded, photographs and grant paperwork issued
When we will tell you no
We will not fill a cavity that is already partially filled with rubble, one on a severely weather-exposed elevation with existing penetrating damp, or a wall where the render has failed. Filling those makes the problem worse. If the survey finds any of it, we say so and quote the remedial work instead.
What is included, and what is not
Included: survey and borescope, materials, drilling, injection, making good, waste removal, and grant paperwork.
Not included: render repair, replacement of failed cavity trays, or removal of existing failed fill. These are separate works, priced openly if needed.
