Attic & Roof Insulation — Full Specification
What we install
Mineral wool quilt laid in two crossed layers — the first between the ceiling joists, the second laid across them to break the thermal bridge the timbers create. Total depth is built to current Part L guidance. Where the roof is converted or follows the rafter line, rigid board is fitted between and under the rafters instead, with a continuous air gap maintained above.
The process, step by step
- Survey: existing depth measured, hatch and tank noted, ventilation paths and any damp checked
- Clearance: stored items moved, old degraded material lifted where required
- Preparation: eaves vents fitted or cleared, downlighter covers installed where present
- Installation: quilt laid, tank and pipework insulated, hatch insulated and draught-sealed
- Walkway boarding reinstated if required for tank or service access
- Sign-off: photographs taken, depth recorded, paperwork issued for your grant claim
Standards and paperwork
Work is carried out to SEAI contractor requirements and current building regulations. On completion you receive a declaration of works, photographs, and the documentation SEAI needs for your grant. As registered contractor #19843 we can only claim grant-eligible work we have actually certified.
What is included, and what is not
Included: materials, labour, hatch insulation, tank and pipe lagging, eaves ventilation, removal of installation waste, and grant paperwork.
Not included: clearing stored belongings, electrical alterations, structural repair to a defective roof, or treating a pre-existing damp problem. Anything of that sort is identified at survey and quoted separately, never added afterwards.
